2022 Idilico Tempranillo
Our 2022 Tempranillo comes from various clones planted at Upland
Vineyard and Dineen Vineyard. These particular lots of Tempranillo
exhibit the desired reductive notes that characterized this bottling and
is more akin to the style in the Rioja region of Spain.
In 2022 we added 6% of Upland Vineyard Graciano for a bit of
enhanced aromatics and acidity.
The must was fermented on skins for
two weeks and was barrel aged for 19 months in mostly neutral
French oak .
The wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered in July 2024.
Tempranillo is the king of the Spanish red grapes. Enjoy aromas and flavors of red fruit, dried herbs and leather in this Rioja-style wine. Salud!
Our 2022 Tempranillo reflects the style of our cool continental growing climates. Aromasof leather and black pepper frame a core of red fruit. On the palate, the wine is medium bodied with a juicy mouthfeel and soft tannins. Red fruit deepens into cherry, dried fig and plum, with dried herbs and a pleasant, lingering finish.
Pairing Suggestions - mushroom risotto, barbecued beef brisket, and roasted lamb.
Drinking Window - enjoy now! But will continue to age well for the next 7-10 years.
